Career Experience
I started working as a tutor for college students while I was an undergraduate. I was also briefly the news editor of the student newspaper on campus. Once I graduated and completed an internship in radio production, I earned a certificate in editing and worked as a freelance editor. After two and a half years of working as a legal assistant at a tax law firm, I decided that going back to tutoring work would be much more fulfilling for me.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love helping people express themselves. To me, the human need to communicate to others lies at the core of writing, which is why a strong understanding of English grammar and usage is so important. When I edit or tutor, my first concern is to make sure the student knows what they want to say and they are successful in getting that message across. I also believe that this ability forms the foundation for so many other crucial skills students use in life, most importantly the confidence to express one's thoughts and opinions as well as advocate for their knowledge and abilities.
