Career Experience
I found my passion – TUTORING – after retiring from a career in accounting and banking. For enjoyment after retirement, I began to take a few classes at the local junior college. It was there that a friend asked me to help her with her beginning accounting class. I enjoyed it so much that I began tutor training, and then employment at the college. As a result of my training and experience, I have achieved certification from the College Reading and Learning Association.
I Love Tutoring Because
with my accounting knowledge and tutoring skills, I help students understand the concepts they are struggling with. I work to create an atmosphere where students feel safe giving an incorrect answer or saying that they do not know. As a result, we are able to use our session time wisely. Accounting requires a solid foundation for success, and I aid the student in identifying their individual starting point. Frequently, our discussion will reveal that this is at a point earlier than the accounting concept they are inquiring about. However, by meeting the student where they are, they will leave our session with an increased knowledge of accounting concepts and feeling successful. I look forward to working with students on their accounting journeys.
