Career Experience
While working towards my degree, I discovered that many students are not strong in math and science. This led me to want to help as many students as I could improve their skills. I have been working with primary and secondary students for 2.5 years, focusing on improving the student's understanding of math through repetition and alternative methods to solve problems. I had a science teacher tell me once that there is only one way to solve math problems. I don't believe this. Instead, usually, an alternative method can lead to a better conceptual understanding of a particular method and this helps improve the overall understanding of a specific technique. I have also assisted adult learners as a university-level chemistry teaching assistant and reviewed math concepts for certification exams. No matter the age of the learner, I believe that everyone can be "good" at math, with a big enough eraser.
I Love Tutoring Because
my favorite part of tutoring is watching students achieve lightbulb moments. These are the moments where after trying to understand something for so long, there is a pause, and then like a cartoon lightbulb brightening, they finally understand the concept. These are the best moments.
