Career Experience

I've been an English teacher for grades 7-12 since 2003, where I've also written curriculum and served as Teacher-in-Charge for ELA 6-8. I love incorporating innovative teaching methods like flipped and blended classrooms. In addition to my work in secondary education, I've been teaching literature courses as an adjunct professor at a couple of universities. My courses often combine literature, composition, and philosophy, which keeps things interesting. I've worked on a variety of projects, from developing curriculum for high schools to reviewing and developing test items for specialized tests. I've also created ELA test items and lessons for several educational organizations. Plus, I authored a guide for parents on Common Core ELA for grades 6-8, which was a fun and rewarding project. Teaching and curriculum development have been my passion, and I'm always excited to take on new challenges and help students succeed.

I Love Tutoring Because

I love tutoring because it allows me to connect with students on a more personal level and really get to know their unique strengths and challenges. It's so rewarding to see that "aha" moment when something clicks for them. I also enjoy the flexibility to be creative with my teaching methods and materials, making learning fun and engaging. Whether it's helping someone understand a tricky concept or sharing my passion for literature, tutoring always feels like a meaningful way to make a difference in someone's educational journey. Plus, it's a great feeling to watch their confidence grow over time.
