Career Experience
I have tutored all high school-level math and physics including AP courses and college math, physics, computer science, and electrical engineering courses. In my final year of high school, I worked as an after-school group tutor for a middle school where I would teach and tutor students in algebra while fostering their curiosity for higher-level math. In addition, I helped a struggling first-year college student pass his honors advanced math class. Finally, I was the founder and administrator for a server where I tutored students in all high school level math and physics including the AP courses I was in. I also received a maximum score on the AP Calculus BC, AP Physics C Mechanics and E/M exams, and the SAT Math 2 subject test. At university, I privately tutored introductory Python, Matlab, electrical engineering, and physics courses including mechanics, fluid dynamics, electricity, magnetism, thermodynamics, and special relativity. I also tutored all lower-division math classes, including single and multivariable calculus, ordinary differential equations, linear algebra, and discrete math in addition to some upper-division math classes like proofs and numerical analysis. In my final year of university, I was hired as a group tutor and grader by my university. During the first quarter, I was a grader for a dynamical systems course --whose lectures were taught in the undergraduate version in conjunction with the graduate version of the course which is what I took the year prior. Simultaneously, I was a group tutor for a single-variable calculus course. The next quarter, I was hired as a group tutor for discrete mathematics and in my last quarter for an electrical engineering course, “Advanced Renewable Energy Sources, Storage, and Smart Grids”. Finally, I graduated summa cum laude with highest honors in both majors.
I Love Tutoring Because
I have asked many questions in my classes, and I enjoy sharing what I learned, the most common question being “Why?”. I think this is an important part of education many teachers do not cover in class. That’s why I find it meaningful to share fundamental truths of problem-solving and analysis with others. I enjoy empowering others by showing them what they can do and how it relates to their interest, and I take pride in seeing them be successful. Depending on the problem and the student, I would teach with a modern/visual approach or one with traditional rigor. In the end, intuition is always key. My job is to make you feel as if you already knew math like it is ingrained in nature, something you could never forget. Through my studies, I have learned that physics is the closest thing we have to consistently predicting the future. A typical physics question is in the form: given this information, what will happen? When we are confused, we will start with fundamental concepts and the type of final answer we are looking for, then work backwards using physics relations until we get the information we are given. I am patient and constantly check to ensure the student understands the topic. I am here to motivate you and help you achieve your goals, take pride in your work, work smart, work hard, and never leave any questions behind so that you too, may have a solid understanding.
