Career Experience
I have been, at various times, a writer for an edtech startup, a journalist for an international news media company, and an editorial assistant for a high-end literary magazine. As an undergraduate in Edinburgh, I studied philosophy and English literature, and continued my passion for the former with graduate study in London. I left a position as a qualitative researcher for a London-based legal publishing titan to pursue a MA in bioethics in New York. My interest in bioethics stems from my fascination with the formation and articulation of moral judgements and the affective neuroscience underpinning human decision making.Through my studies in bioethics, I have developed an interest in the ethics of data science, artificial intelligence, and human-computer interfaces, especially how the implementation of these novel technologies will impact the labor market. While in London I trained as a Specialist Philosophy Teacher, receiving intensive instruction in the Philosophy for Children (P4C) teaching method. First and foremost, my pedagogy aims to stimulate philosophical curiosity, critical thinking, and independent inquiry in my students through the accessibile presentation of theory and collaborative analysis of texts.
I Love Tutoring Because
...of the "aha" moment when a student understands the complexity of an idea. It is gratifying, inspirational, and humbling to facilitate those moments and the growth of young minds.
