Hello, my name is Frederic and I am a recent hire for tutor.com. I have 9 months of experience working as a tutor at my university's Writing Resource Center, and 6 months of experience writing articles for my school newspaper. These jobs have helped me not only develop a deeper understanding of what the writing process should look like, but they have also aided in developing my personal philosophy regarding what it means to tutor. My non-writing-related experiences include serving as a coordinator for a peer mentorship program, interning for a public interest research organization, and taking part in the Model United Nations program at my school. All of these undertakings have served as invaluable experiences for me, profoundly influencing my own spiritual, intellectual and social development.
I Love Tutoring Because
I love to help people realize the best in themselves. Everyone has something of great value to share, something that only they're capable of manifesting into the world, be it an idea, a talent, or a truth. Although we live as ourselves all our lives, we tend to find ourselves seeing and thinking through the eyes of others--the imaginary eyes of the imaginary others. This way of being can cloud our judgment, restrict our development, and get in the way of our knowing and embodying our purpose. I believe that a good tutor, better yet teacher, focuses primarily on enabling the student to trust themselves. When this is done successfully, well, tutoring becomes its own reward.
