We have a peer-to-peer offering related to mental health within the Honors College. Kent State University created the idea of U Good events for students. The objective of these peer-created and peer-led events is to engage, educate, and encourage students to adopt healthful skills and behaviors that improve mental wellness. U Goods take many formats (in-person, online, activities focused, presentation focused). There are 22 unique U Good events.

Destressing: Programs intended to help residents destress, relax, and separate from the stress of academics/college life. Recreation & Wellness: Programs intended to get residents active and engaging in physical activity, games, or other recreational activity or well-being endeavors. We offer learning programs centered around adjusting to college and health & wellbeing: A Resident?s Life??: Programs intended to help students adjust to living independently and on campus. Health & Wellbeing: Programs intended to support students in adopting and maintaining healthy lifestyles conducive to success while in residence. Additionally, we have procedures in place should a resident need support regarding their mental health and well-being. We refer to this as our CARE process: L3 (level 3). Definition: suicide ideation, mental wellness related transport, concern for risk to self/others Review and discuss at next meeting of university CARE Team Referral letter, memo, and history prepared and copy w/background sent to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) within 48 hours Within 48 hours after receiving copy of the letter, hall staff meets w/student to discuss situation, explain expectation for follow-up, & deliver letter Track student until appointment completed All touchpoints documented L2 (level 2). Definition: feeling down but no imminent risk, known or shared history around mental wellness, evidence that the student may not be connected to resources, referral/request from CARE Team for ?wellness check.? Hall staff follow-ups to assess student situation/needs further; expectation is for a direct, in-person conversation with student Minimum of three contact attempts within 72-hours If hall staff feels there is a need for additional support, they should call KSUPD or consult supervisor. DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO CAMPUS

From I-76: Take the Kent/Route 43 exit (exit 33) and proceed north to Route 261. Turn right (east) onto Route 261. Proceed one-fourth mile to Campus Center Drive. At the traffic light, turn left onto Campus Center Drive and follow it to the stop sign at the junction of East Campus Center Drive and West Campus Center Drive. Proceed to your destination from this point by following the signage at that intersection. From I-80 (Ohio Turnpike): Use exit 187/13 (Streetsboro). After the toll booth, proceed straight (follow Ravenna sign) onto Route 14 traveling southeast, go past Route 303 to Route 43. Turn right (south) on Route 43 and continue south for approximately six miles until you come to the traffic light at the dead end at Haymaker Parkway in the city of Kent. Turn left (east) onto Haymaker and follow until you reach the traffic light at the intersection of Lincoln and Haymaker. Proceed to your destination from this point by following the signs. From I-90: Proceed toward Cleveland. Take I-271 south to I-480 east; stay on I-480 until it becomes Route 14 in Streetsboro. Turn right (south) on Route 43 and continue south for approximately six miles until you come to the traffic light at the dead end at Haymaker Parkway in the city of Kent. Turn left (east) onto Haymaker Parkway and follow until you reach the traffic light at the intersection of Lincoln and Haymaker. Proceed to your destination from this point by following the signs.
