Academic Programs
At Stetson University all academic experiences are underscored by experiential learning opportunities to help students translate theory and classroom learning into practice. Each college and school approaches this in different ways. The College of Arts and Sciences, the school's largest, requires a senior research project, supports an active internship program and has vibrant study away and study abroad programs. The School of Music requires all students to participate in public performance and its Music Education students are required to intern in local schools. The School of Business Administration requires two experiential education experiences to graduate, and these may extend to on and off-campus student leadership, competition teams, internships, study abroad and study away.
Stetson University students have the opportunity to participate in some innovative programs leading to career and graduate pathways. Stetson has received a $1 million National Science Foundation grant to assess the positive impact of cohort and close community learning in science, technology and math programs. Our first cohort is Fall 2022. Stetson has partnered with AdventHealth University to offer undergraduate paths into nursing and nuclear medicine technology and graduate paths into a dual degree Health Administration and Business Administration program, and Doctor of Physical Therapy and Occupation Therapy programs. Stetson also partners with LECOM, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine to offer early acceptance to their College of Medicine, School of Dental Medicine and School of Pharmacy.
Stetson's honors program incorporates international study, community service, and a senior colloquium, and also allows students to create their own majors. The Stetson Undergraduate Research Experience program awards funding to students for summer research or creative projects with faculty members, and original student work is celebrated at the annual Stetson Showcase.
The university is home to multiple centers and institutes of excellence including: the Center for Excellence in Advocacy and the Institute for Advancement of Legal Communication at the College of Law; the Institute of Tax and Accountancy, Roland George Investments Program and Centurion Sales Program in the School of Business Administration; and The Brown Center for Faculty Innovation and Excellence; WORLD: The David and Leighan Rinker Center for International Learning, and the Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience in the College of Arts and Sciences. Stetson was Florida's first Phi Beta Kappa institution, and is affiliated with the Bonner Scholars program, which provides scholarships to approximately 60 undergraduate students who actively and consistently engage in community service.

Students Say
Professors “inherently care about our paths and experiences and always want to enhance them in the best way possible,” which often means that they “encourage outdoor activity rather than remaining in one environment to learn.” As one student puts it, “They truly care about making sure that students understand the material, and are willing to go out of their way to make that happen.” This extra layer of focus on student well-being isn’t just because of the low student-to-faculty ratio, though respondents note that this feature is “allowing me to work closely with my professors and developing a unique relationship with some of the best professionals in my field of study.” Rather, this level of individualized aid is built into university life, with the school offering “so much support to [its] students. Between one-on-one tutoring, career counseling, the Writing Center, and professors who want to know their students, Stetson does an amazing job making sure we are never alone.”

The spaces and experiences will allow ideas, learning and interests to converge and evolve into discoveries and innovative pedagogy. The building, to be completed for the Fall 2022 semester, will connect to the Sage Hall Science Center through internal glass walkways creating more than 100,000 sq. ft. of space for the university's science and health programs. Just recently Stetson completed the renovation and modernization of the Carlton Union Building, hub to student life and food services, and opened Sandra Stetson Aquatic Center, home to research facilities, the Institute for Water and Environmental Resilience and the university rowing teams.
