Ultimate Guide to HBCU: Law

The Higher Education Act of 1965 describes HBCUs as “…any historically Black college or university established prior to 1964, whose principal mission was, and is, the education of Black Americans.” Among them are 85 schools offering traditional four year undergraduate degrees, 11 community colleges offering up to associate degrees, and five graduate institutions. The schools are in 19 states (Alabama hosts the most: 12), the District of Columbia, and the Virgin Islands.
