Students Say

Classes at the University of Colorado Law School “are taught expertly and allow…great discussions.” Students describe a collegial atmosphere with faculty who are “very helpful and willing to talk with students” and friendly classmates whose kindness “makes learning much easier.” As one student puts it, “The entire community—students, faculty, administration—wants the best for CU law,” adding, “It feels like one big team.” The law school is an “amazing facility with incredible opportunities and great professors.” CU offers several ways to tailor the academic experience according to student interests. In addition to a JD, the school also offers six dual degree options, eight certificate programs, a Master of Laws (LLM) program, and a Master of Studies in Law (MSL). The school’s administration “strives to create an environment that is as supportive as possible,” and students describe the staff as “fantastic and on top of things.” One student adds, “mental health is very much recognized and honored here, which I think is both really important and unique in a law school environment.”

Students appreciate the “multitude of resources for externships and job opportunities in the Rocky Mountain region.” According to the school, 95% of students from the 2023 and 2024 classes secured law or law-related summer jobs. Both professors and alumni are “very willing to help students with career development.” As one student says, “The faculty have been a great resource not just in the subject matters they teach, but I have also gone to them for professional advice.”

Campus Life

Students Say

Fellow classmates are “very cooperative and everybody is very kind.” Some students say the law school is “lacking in student diversity” and that “while there is definite progress being made to be inclusive, there is still work to be done.” Overall, students here “support each other and want each other to succeed,” and “most people know each other and are friends.” As one student describes it, “I connected immediately with so many of my fellow classmates and really enjoy my friends.” The school fosters this collaborative atmosphere, as students are “encouraged from day one to prioritize our relationships with one another, given that most of us will work in Denver post-grad, and Denver is a small legal community.” The school’s facilities “are everything we could need.” The library and research resources “are extensive, and the staff are helpful and friendly.” The school also brings in speakers and holds “a lot of big events that are really valuable for meeting people and hearing from the best people.”
