From the School
All MUA faculty have an advanced medical and/or doctoral degree (MD, MBBS, PhD) with postgraduate training in a medical or academic specialty, as well as demonstrated experience in teaching and/or research. We also look for something more in our faculty: a strong desire to work closely with the students they teach.

From The School
By focusing on the key fundamentals of a top medical education including an excellent faculty, small class sizes, a modern campus, a wide range of clinical affiliations and a cost-effective tuition, Medical University of the Americas (MUA) has enjoyed more than a decade of rapid growth and achievement.
Medical education, globally, now emphasizes greater integration between the basic and clinical sciences portions of the medical school curriculum. At MUA, case-based learning and clinical skills development are a prominent part of the Basic Sciences curriculum. Learning objectives are fully integrated across all courses.
This gives students the opportunity to maintain perspective on critical learning objectives and enables faculty to evaluate students based on patient-centered competencies rather than just their medical knowledge. In addition to integrating more clinical experience into the first five semesters, MUA is also focused on extending its wide range of affiliations with teaching hospitals in the U.S. and Canada where our students complete their clinical rotations.
Majors and Degrees Offered
MUA's academic program parallels the approach in use at top U.S. medical schools. Diverse learning opportunities include interactive lectures, small-group work sessions, individual and group presentations, team-based learning, and simulations with standardized patients. As a result of this teaching approach, between 2015 and 2019, our students achieved an average first-time pass rate of 95% on the USMLE Step 1 exam, a testament to the excellent quality of the Basic Sciences program at MUA.
MUA is accredited by the Accreditation Commission on Colleges of Medicine (ACCM), the accrediting body for Nevis. The University is also accredited by the St. Kitts and Nevis Accreditation Board. Additionally, MUA is approved by New York and Florida, and recognized by California. These accreditations, approvals and recognitions enable our graduates to be licensed to practice throughout the United States and Canada.
MUA has three start terms per year: January, May and September.
Faculty Information
Overview
From The School
Since it was founded in 1998, Medical University of the Americas has always been able to offer a tuition that compares very favorably with other medical schools, while also maintaining the rigorous standards that have made it a top choice among international MD programs. MUA's cost-effective tuition enables students to complete their education with far less indebtedness. This is especially true when compared with other Caribbean medical schools whose tuition and fees can be as much as double that of MUA.
