Accommodations in Pocatello offer convenience and value, but nothing out of the ordinary. One very basic, quite inexpensive hotel is situated just across the street from the university. Frequented regularly by university visitors, the Econolodge (835 S. 5th Ave.; 208-233-0451) offers special rates. If you're craving hustle and bustle, you might try the Red Lion (2055 Pocatello Creek; 208-233-2200), a 5-minute drive away. It has restaurants, an indoor pool, a weight room, a sauna, and evening entertainment in the lounge. Rooms are only slightly more expensive than the choice listed above. About 5 miles away is a Holiday Inn (1399 Bench Rd.; 208-237-1400) with an indoor pool, miniature golf, ping pong, a whirlpool and sauna, and fitness center privileges. Ameritel (1440 Bench Rd.; 208-234-7500) has a 24-hour pool, hot tub, and exercise room. It offers a deluxe continental breakfast and free HBO.
