Transportation

Types of Transportation Available to Campus
La Guardia, Newark International, and Kennedy International serve the New York City area. Limousine, taxi, bus, and subway service can be combined to bring you to Lincoln Center and Juilliard. Taxi service is the most expensive means of travel. Carey bus service operates from La Guardia and Newark airports. Airport shuttles operate from Kennedy. Your airline should be able to help you plan how to get into the city. Amtrak trains and Greyhound and several other bus lines serve New York City. The closest subway to the school is the #1 subway; the closest bus stop is for the M104 bus at West 66th St.

Driving Instructions to Campus
Take your favorite route into New York City (check the Barnard and Columbia entries), then head for Lincoln Center and the school near 65th and Broadway, west of Central Park.

Local Accommodations
Within walking distance is the Alcott (27 W. 72nd St.; 212-877-4200). Rates are moderate. In the other direction is the Salisbury (123 W. 57th St.; 212-246-1300). Rates here are rather expensive, but remember to ask for its musician's discount. See the Columbia University entry for other suggestions accessible to Juilliard, especially the Empire Hotel and the Excelsior, which are both within walking distance of Juilliard. (Ask the Empire for their musician's discount as well.)
