Regent University enjoys a prime location in Virginia Beach, the largest city in Virginia's "Hampton Roads" community. Formerly referred to as Tidewater, this region is located in the southeast corner of Virginia, where several major rivers intersect, and where the great Chesapeake Bay opens into the Atlantic Ocean. The cities of Hampton Roads (Virginia Beach, Norfolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, Suffolk, Hampton, Newport News, Poquoson, Williamsburg, and the counties of York and Gloucester) owe their development to the region's natural harbors and tributaries. Local naval bases and the many harbors and waterways offer close-up views of ships and sailing vessels from all over the world. The Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean skirt the city of Virginia Beach with 28 miles of public beaches. http://www.visitvirginiabeach.com/
