Transportation
Types of Transportation Available to Campus
Sikorsky Airport in Bridgeport is 15 minutes from campus. Bradley International Airport near Hartford is 75 minutes from campus. La Guardia Airport and JFK in New York are an hour and a half from campus. Taxis and limousines are available from these airports to campus. Amtrak and Metro-North trains and Greyhound buses serve Bridgeport. Taxis are available for the ride from the stations to campus. Ferry is available from Port Jefferson, NY.
Driving Instructions to Campus
From the north, I-95 South, take exit 27; exit forks, take left hand fork marked "University of Bridgeport". You are now on South Avenue, parallel to I-95. Continue on South Avenue to the fourth light. Turn left onto Park Avenue. Proceed South on Park Avenue, approximately one-half mile to the campus. From south, take I-95 North, get off at exit 26; at the bottom of the ramp continue straight on Pine Street. Take a right onto Harbor Street and next left onto Admiral Street. Take a right onto Iranistan Avenue. Proceed South on Iranistan Avenue to Waldemere Avenue. Take a left onto Waldemere Avenue, travel to Park Avenue (look for the Arch). Take a left onto Park Avenue. From the Merritt Parkway, take exit 52 (south fork) and bear left to route 8/25 Connector to exit 1 (Prospect Street/Myrtle Avenue). At the bottom of the ramp take a right onto Prospect Street to Park Avenue. Take a left on Park Avenue. Proceed South on Park Avenue, approximately one-half mile to the campus.
Local Accommodations
Five minutes from the University, the Bridgeport Holiday Inn (1070 Main St.; 203-334-1234) has special rates and is relatively affordable. A bit further, the Hampton Inn in Milford (129 Plains Rd.; 203-874-4400) is located 4 miles from the Sikorsky Airport. The Stratford Ramada (225 Lordship Blvd.; 800-2 Ramada) is about 20 minutes from campus. The Trumbull Marriott (180 Hawley Ln.; 800-221-9855), with its indoor-pool, up-to-date health club, 2 restaurants, and 2 lounges is the most expensive.
