Academics

The University of Evansville, a small university in Indiana's third-largest city, "is a place where you will know all of your faculty and the faculty will know you and really care about you, a place where you can really talk to your professors about anything from work, to life, to your future." It's also a place where you can pursue a number of high-quality majors. Students tell us that "the teaching, nursing, education, and music programs are all good," that "the school of business is excellent, with a brand-new building dedicated to the department" (the school is AACSB-accredited), an engineering program that is "very hands on," and a theater program that "is held in high regard." Perhaps most prestigious is the school's popular physical therapy program, which students say deserves "nothing but praise." In all disciplines, students enjoy "small discussion-based classes, a strong push towards critical thinking and challenging boundaries," and a study abroad program that "is a huge strong point." One student explains, "Since we own Harlaxton College in England, it's usually a question of when you're going, not if you're going." Adds another, "It truly is one of the best reasons to come to UE."

Student Body

The typical student at the University of Evansville is "friendly and outgoing." The school draws "both local and out-of-state students, giving the University a different feel than most small colleges" and attracts an international contingent "from many different countries…. It makes the school very special." As one student explains, "It never ceases to amaze me when an Iranian student, for example, sits in on a history class dealing with Iran–US relations. This kind of thing happens all the time." UE's student body includes many "wannabe businesspersons and nurses" who are typically involved in Greek life. There are also "a bunch of weirdoes," or, more politely put, "unique students who enjoy unusual activities, such as medieval dancing and fantasy worlds."

Campus Life

The UE campus "always has something for people to do in order to interact with one another. The fraternities either have parties or the student government or another club is getting some event organized, such as a Massage-O-Thon in the physical therapy club. Lots of people wonder how they are going to get everything done but somehow find a way." Hometown Evansville supplements the action with "all types of fun and interesting things to do, whether you are into sports, museums, breweries (for those 21 and older), and casinos. What more can adults our age ask for? You honestly cannot say in Evansville, Indiana that there is nothing to do." Greek organizations play a big role on and off campus; they reach out to the community through several “large philanthropies a year as well as many smaller volunteer opportunities." UE is also home to "over 90 clubs and organizations on campus for students to be involved in." Intramural sports "are a very big part of our campus involvement too."
