Tucked away in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Liberty is a “conservative,” “Christian” university that teaches law “from a biblical perspective.” Not surprisingly, the school attracts applicants with similar “values and morals.” Of course, it also draws in students thanks to the “rigorous” academics and “small” class sizes. The coursework itself is geared towards the “practical” and “taught in as simple a manner as complex legal theories allow.” And while the university does “encourage [students] to compete for class rank,” it simultaneously pushes everyone “to help each other rather than cut each other down.” Hence, “anyone who would look to sabotage someone else would be an outlier, to say the least.”

Additionally, Liberty retains “top notch” professors who are deeply motivated to “teach law and teach it well.” They also tend to be “incredibly caring” and “truly seek to have relationships with all of their students.” For example, they are “always willing to meet with you and go above and beyond to answer any questions you have.” Even better, their “vast amount of knowledge” is bolstered by their “decades of experience within their respective fields.”

Just as critical, Liberty Law provides students with “great” resources. To begin with, the library’s “selection of material and recorded legal opinions” is incredibly “expansive.” Students also love that “opportunities to compete in moot competitions” abound. Moreover, they rush to highlight the fact that it’s quite easy to snag “internships and externships.” However, there is one consistent complaint “the fact that we don’t have our own Law School building.” And, sadly, the facilities to which these law students are privy feel “pretty small” and provide “very little natural light.”

Fortunately, despite the lackluster classrooms, the administration remains well regarded by the students. We’re told that they are “always very helpful” and they do “what [they] can to ensure that everything behind the scenes runs well.” Students also applaud the fact that the administration is “willing to receive constructive criticism” and open to making “changes” when appropriate. And a handful single out Dean Faulkner who is doing “great work to increase the notoriety of Liberty law” and to ensure that “it is a place where genuine growth occurs.”

"Liberty University’s law school fosters an “[incredible] family atmosphere.” Indeed, students happily report that “everyone is loving and encouraging [of] each other.” They truly want to see their peers “succeed.” In turn, this creates a “very cooperative and collaborative environment.” Liberty students also maintain “a high degree of trust and expectation of honor.” As this future lawyer explains, “The law school horror stories of stolen books, stolen computers, ripped pages, are non-existent at Liberty. People leave keys, wallets, phones, computers, textbooks, you name it, out openly on desks with no fear that it will be stolen.” The one note of criticism students seem to have is that minority representation is “seriously lacking” at Liberty. However, this is tempered by assurances that “those who are minorities seem to be accepted without any issue.”

Importantly, the university makes it rather easy to lead a robust life beyond the classroom. After all, Liberty provides “innumerable things to do on campus.” Students can enjoy everything from “intramural sports, D1 Sports, skiing, ice skating, horseback riding [and] dirt bikes/4-wheelers” to “shooting range[s], disc golf, swimming, hiking, biking [and] fishing.” In other words, “You name it, it’s available for free as a student at LU.”
