How to Register for the LSAT

LSAT registration requires you to sign up approximately one month before the LSAT test date. You can register online with your  LSAC.org account  or over the phone at (215) 968-1001. Once you pick your test date, you'll have to pay a $190 registration fee.

From September through February, you can register by phone with the LSAC between 8:30 a.m. and 6 p.m. on weekdays. From March through August, you can call on weekdays between 8:30 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Keep in mind that the LSAC is busiest on Mondays, so you can save some time by calling later in the week to register if you choose to do so by phone.

When to Take the LSAT

Most schools require their applicants to take the LSAT by December for future fall admission. However, it's best to schedule your first exam earlier in case you need to increase your score.

You have seven opportunities throughout the year to take the LSAT. Try to avoid January LSAT registration for your first test, as more than half of students taking the January test will be striving to up their score.

Remember to consider your application deadlines when you schedule your LSAT, too. If you're applying for admission in fall 2020, aim to schedule your LSAT test dates between June and October 2019. You could potentially wait until February to take your tests, but some of the spots may already be filled at the schools of your choice. Plus, as we mentioned above, these tests tend to fill up fast with second-timers, so you'll have to reserve your spot early on anyway.
