The University of Virginia School of Law is an “overall amazing place in all areas.” Students rave about the culture and say it’s the people who make the school special. As one student puts it, “All the people, from the faculty, staff, and students, all are so excited to be there and happy to lend a helping hand.” Students describe the atmosphere as collegial and emphasize that “it's not just a buzzword…the school does a great job of embodying the spirit of collaboration and inclusion.” This spirit is exemplified by professors who “make the classroom experience enjoyable and comfortable for all students” and by an administration who “truly dedicate themselves to making students' lives better.” The administration is a “well-oiled machine and extremely thoughtful,” and students love the personalized attention and advice. As one student illustrates, “student affairs, counseling and disability services, and career services all seem to work together symbiotically” and are “open to discussing your ‘big picture.’” Another student adds that career services “does a fantastic job here ensuring that my personal goals are met.”

Campus Life

Students Say

There are “lots of fun social activities,” and the school is “very community oriented.” Students “get to enjoy law school at UVA” and “every day at school is a generally happy experience.” There are “student orgs aplenty and most students find their niche with something.” Popular extracurriculars range from participating in the “International Tax Moot Court competition” to playing softball, which is “a huge part of our life here.” Overall, students are “very social” and “people get along and like to hang out.” Students appreciate the school’s proximity to D.C. and the close-knit feeling of Charlottesville. As one student illustrates, “I'll always be bumping into friends and meeting new students. It feels so warm and supportive.” The facilities here are “top-notch,” including the law library, which “offers incredible research support.” The school “attracts a diverse student body,” and students “have a strong respect for one another.” UVA has an “incredibly supportive and cooperative” atmosphere.
