Have completed or plan to complete a minimum of 90 semester hours at an accredited American or Canadian college or university prior to matriculation. A completed bachelors degree before the start of your first year of medical school is preferred. Transfer coursework from foreign schools is not acceptable. Online coursework is not acceptable. Have completed or plan to complete 6 credits of English and 6 credits of lecture and 2 credits of lab in each of the following sciences: Biology (not Botany or Ecology courses), General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Physics Taken or plan to take the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT) by no later than September 30, 2012. No MCAT scores prior to April 2010 will be accepted for consideration.For more information about the changes to the MCAT which will go into effect in 2015, please visit: https://www.aamc.org/students/applying/mcat/mcat2015/ Meet our technical standards requirements Those without U.S. citizenship, Canadian citizenship, or U.S. permanent residency must apply to the International Medicine Program.

The GW SMHS maintains a national reputation for placing qualified graduates into quality residency programs. Many students choose to continue their postgraduate work at GW and be a part of our state-of-the-art hospital. In fact, of the graduating class of 2012, 21 members remained at GW to complete their residencies. Some of the other institutions at which members of the class of 2012 were placed include: Yale-New Haven Hospital, Mt. Sinai Hospital, Stanford University, and Johns Hopkins Hospital.
