Location
Hanover's wooded 650-acre campus, located on the banks of the Ohio River in southeastern Indiana, is brimming with activity. Our residential campus has plenty to offer for anyone who enjoys some fresh air with gorgeous views. About 400 acres of our campus is completely dedicated to green space, with miles of hiking trails and waterfalls right here for our community to enjoy.
Campus Facilities & Equipment
In addition to incredible outdoor spaces and views on campus, our 650-acres host a wealth of modern spaces and amenities for our students, while maintaining classic collegiate architecture.
Hanover's campus has 12 living units, including co-ed residence halls, apartment-style pods and theme-housing units, as well as four fraternities and four sororities. Two of our first-year residence halls just underwent massive renovations and two new townhome living options were also constructed.
Students will attend classes in our 10 academic buildings on campus, including spaces with traditional classrooms, laboratories, studios, art galleries, performance halls and more. Pay special attention to the Science Center's museum exhibits lining the halls and our incredibly unique human cadaver lab. Each year, the lab will host six-eight full human cadavers for use by our undergraduate students interested in health fields.
The J. Graham Brown Campus Center – known to Hanoverians as "The CC" – has been central to campus life for more than 50 years. In addition to the Barnes and Noble Bookstore, the "CC" is home to everything from three of Hanover's dining locations to the Withrow Activities Center, Haq Multicultural Center and the campus' central mailroom and print shop.
The Horner Health and Recreation Center features a spacious fitness gymnasium with a vast array of workout gear and machines, including treadmills, stationary bicycles, ellipticals, free weights and weight machines. There are also three multi-purpose courts, two racquetball courts, an indoor running track and multipurpose rooms for fitness classes.
The facility also stands as home of Hanover's men's and women's basketball teams and volleyball team. The Panthers compete in John R. Collier Arena, which seats nearly 2,000 fans for sporting events and also hosts concerts, comedy shows, campus speakers and, occasionally, graduation.
The Panther Athletic Complex is home to Hanover's outdoor athletic teams and includes Alumni Stadium, K.T. Young Ballpark, Kops-Bedel Field, Zeddies Tennis Center, soccer complex and cross country course.
Alumni Stadium houses the football and athletic training staffs, as well as locker rooms, training room, pressbox and hospitality suite. The playing surface at C. Wayne Perry Field had its artificial turf renewed last summer and the eight-lane track and areas for throws and jumps were resurfaced as well!
Off-Campus Opportunities
Madison, our college town, is famous for its history, culture and food. Downtown Madison's 130-block historic district is a National Historic Landmark and includes some of the city's most iconic sites, shopping and restaurants. With the number of music, art and food festivals hosted in Madison, it's no surprise that it's also included among 12 official Indiana Cultural Districts named by the Indiana Arts Commission.
Madison shares Hanover's love for the outdoors and hosts a sprawling bike path around the city, one-of-a-kind views along the riverwalk and more. Plus, Clifty Falls State Park is home to some of the most beautiful (and challenging) hiking trails in Indiana.
While some undergrads grumble that "life at Hanover is pretty slow," others steadfastly argue that "there are SO many things [with which] to be involved." For starters, students can participate in "over sixty organizations" including "Adopt A Grandparent, Circle K Community Service, Best Buddies, and so many more." Additionally, individuals who enjoy the arts will be delighted to hear that both "the theater department and the improv group...never disappoint [and] the choir and band concerts [are] always very enjoyable [as well]." For those that are more athletically inclined, we're told that "when it's warm out, students go hiking, play wiffleball, or...sand volleyball." Many undergrads also gravitate to the Student Activities Center which offers "game tables, [a] theater room, televisions [and] study spots." And, in the evenings, "chances are some club always has something planned-be it a movie showing [or] a poetry night!" Hanover also has a relatively robust party scene. Indeed, undergrads inform us that "Greek life is big on...campus." And while there "are only four frats...they are a [major] part of [the] social life." Finally, when students are looking for a break from the campus routine, they often head to nearby Madison or Louisville, which is a mere "forty-minute drive [away]" and the closest major city.
